Manny Azizi

Dr. Manny Azizi is a co-PI and co-Director of the Neuromuscular Mechanics Lab at the University of California at Irvine. The Azizi lab is focused on how the physical interactions between muscles and tendons (biological motors and springs) determine the mechanics and energetics of locomotion. Our work strives to understand how the basic properties of biological motors and springs have been shaped by evolution and how shifts in these properties affect neuromuscular health and performance.
